Öxarárfoss, Iceland

Öxarárfoss Iceland

On our first day in Iceland we visited Öxarárfoss. The 15 meters waterfall that you wish you had in your garden.

We started with a walk which I enjoyed a lot! Walking thru the picturesque valley, feeling free and there is nothing but beautiful nature for as far as your eyes can see!

There are 5 different carparks you can use, but we chose P1 (carpark 1) which is the same car park used for the information centre. All carparks are within walking distance from Öxarárfoss, as long as you are happy to walk for about 30-40 minutes. Some carparks are closer and as example, P3 is just 10-15 min walk.

The price we paid was 750 ISK (£5 exactly) and was for a full day entry. Not that we stayed that long, but we could if we wanted to.
To pay the carpark at Öxarárfoss, we went ot the toilets. I guess they figured out that the toilet is a place where everyone stopping at the carpark will visit first.
There are 2 payment machines. You have to enter your number plate, email address and pay by card. There is no cash payment accepted.
When you pay, you get a receipt over email straight away which looks like this:

And then the journey begins!
