It has been a while since our last journey to Venice and we really need to go somewhere. Most of the people we know prefer to visit warm places and enjoy a relaxing break. Not us. We prefer having an energetic excursion to a place we have never visited before.
Excursion vs Holiday
Allow me to explain the difference between those two from my point of view.
Excursion – Get in your most comfortable shoes/trainers, get a backpack and start exploring. Camera is a must.
Holiday – Find a quiet place with nice all inclusive hotel, get a drink and enjoy the view. Selfies are optional.
Although we tend to go to excursions and I am more than OK with it, sometimes I wish we go to a holiday and see what it is on the other side of the line. Oh well, one day… but not today!
Why Iceland?
We have always wanted to see the Northern Lights. Last year we almost visited Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, but unfortunately it turned out to be very expensive during the time so we changed our minds and went to travel around Cuba for 2 weeks.
Iceland is one of the countries where, if you visit during the right time, you can enjoy the beautiful dance of colours in the night sky.
With population around 350,000 people and an area of 40,000 square miles, traveling across the country must be an amazing experience with so few people on the road and so many beautiful places to stop, enjoy and take e photo of.
We have almost planned our entire trip. To make it more interesting, we left few unknowns to decide on the spot.
I can’t wait to get there!
